Getting Started with Cilium
Cilium is an open source tool that provides management, security, and observability of Kubernetes ecosystems. First released in April 2018, it has recently gained traction as the default CNI for a number of Kubernetes distributions.
Compared to other CNIs operating in this space, Cilium’s approach via eBPF is novel.
Cilium can be extended to work as a service mesh. It can also work in kube-proxy-less mode, eliminating one component that would normally require management.
