Solo builds on open source Envoy Proxy and Istio to give enterprises comprehensive API gateway and service mesh solutions that work everywhere, at any scale. We are looking for a self-driven product manager to manage our Gloo Edge API Gateway product. 


About the Role

Gloo Edge is the leading cloud native API gateway in the market. Launched officially in 2019, Gloo Edge has thousands of open source users and customers. Large customers use Gloo Edge to power billions of API transactions per month. We are looking for a technically-minded product manager to join our growing team and report directly to product leadership.

The product manager should have a background in Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Amazon EKS, API gateways and management, and/or similar cloud-native technologies. A previous engineering background is preferred. Our ideal candidate will have a baseline technical understanding of API gateways. At, there are no layers of abstraction between product management and our customers and community. The role provides regular and open interactions with Gloo Edge users through Slack, Github and customer calls. 


Job Description: 

  • Build and execute on a product roadmap for our API gateway products
  • Write enhancement requirements
  • Orchestrate technical enablement sessions for our field engineers
  • Meet with customers and help them meet their goals via enhancement delivery 
  • Perform research on the API gateway market 
  • Grooming and prioritizing issue backlog
  • Work closely with engineering to map customer and market requirements to product delivery


Job Skills: 

  • 2-5 years of product management or equivalent experience with infrastructure software or cloud services
  • 1-2 years of experience with one or more is preferred: Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Amazon EKS, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Anthos
  • Ability to define roadmap based on customer and market requirements 
  • Strong written, slide building, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in engineering, product marketing, field and executive team to negotiate quarterly product delivery goals
  • Ability to communicate tradeoffs, determine relative priority, and manage expectations. 
  • History of success working with large enterprise organizations 
  • Engineering or similar technical background is preferred embraces diversity and equal opportunity.
