Join the Solo.io Team at KubeCon North America 2021 – October 11 – 15!

The Solo.io team is excited to be participating at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021! Whether you visit us virtually (Oct 11-15) or in Los Angeles, CA (Oct. 13-15), our team of service mesh experts will be ready to answer your questions or provide a demo.

In addition, our team will be presenting a keynote and seven sessions during ServiceMeshCon on October 12. Check out this blog for ServiceMeshCon session details.

There are two ways to visit the Solo.io team at this year’s KubeCon event:

  • Visit our virtual booth from October 11 – 15 to talk to an expert, watch our latest product demos, join a live office hour session and access our latest resources. Click on this direct link to the Solo.io Virtual Booth to visit our team now!
  • Attending KubeCon in person in Los Angeles, CA? Stop by the Solo.io Booth (booth #S4) in the solutions showcase at the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 13 -15 to talk to our team of service mesh experts and get a demo.

And, whether you are attending live or virtually, be sure to enter our drawing for a chance to win Apple AirPods. To enter virtually, go to the virtual giveaway tab in the KubeCon virtual event platform or if you are in Los Angeles, CA, stop by and get scanned at Solo.io booth #S4.

Live Office Hour Sessions in the Solo.io Virtual Booth

The Solo team will be presenting live in our virtual booth throughout the week. Our team will present on a variety of topics including, zero-trust security, advanced authentication patterns, and an exploration of common service mesh use cases. Complete session details are listed below.

Service mesh use cases for the hybrid cloud environment
Monday, October 11, 2021, 10:30am (PDT)
Ram Vennam, Field Engineer

We’ll explore common service mesh use cases including locality failover, migration, and canary testing that are enabled by running Istio and Gloo Mesh across your hybrid Kubernetes environments. We’ll use Amazon EKS Anywhere as an example to show how your mesh can seamlessly extend from the cloud to on-premises.

Unleash the power of data access with GraphQL and service mesh
Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 10:30am (PDT)
Lin Sun, Director of Open Source

As organizations move to support Kubernetes-based microservices and expose data access, challenges arise as to how to access the data efficiently across different clients and return precisely what each client requests. We’ll discuss interesting use cases leveraging GraphQL and service mesh together to enable users to easily deploy, manage, and query GraphQL everywhere.

Zero-trust security for your service mesh
Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 1:30pm (PDT)
Will McKinley, Field Engineer

We’ll cover best practices for enabling a zero-trust security for your microservices workloads with an Istio service mesh. We’ll show how Gloo Mesh can help maintain federated, consistent security controls across Kubernetes, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Advanced authentication patterns at the edge
Thursday, October 14, 2021, 8:30am (PDT)
Denis Jannot, Director of Field Engineering, EMEA

With the spread of Kubernetes-orchestrated microservices, it’s a best practice to manage the authentication at the edge (using an API gateway) instead of implementing it independently for each service. But this approach also introduces new challenges. We’ll explore: how does the application authenticate users? How can the application force a logout? What about the authorization? We’ll cover the different authentication mechanisms (like OAuth and JWT.) We’ll also show how to overcome these challenges with practical examples and demos, including passing user information using headers generated from claims, performing authorization with OPA, and more.

GitOps, CI/CD, and an Istio-native developer portal
Thursday, October 14, 2021, 10:30am (PDT)
Eric Murphy, Field Engineer

Learn how an API developer portal can pair with Istio service mesh and an edge gateway to publish APIs for Kubernetes-based applications and microservices. See how this portal can be customized and updated through a GitOps workflow. Understand how CI/CD factors into updating and publishing your APIs, and how it all ties together with an Istio-native API developer portal, edge gateway, and service mesh.

Extend your service mesh using WASM
Thursday, October 14, 2021, 1:00pm (PDT)
Adam Sayah, Field Engineer

Learn how to extend your service mesh capabilities with WASM. In this session, we will walk through what you need to know to extend your service mesh capabilities with WASM. This can be very useful if you have a requirement to increase security or to modify an API call between two services in a mesh.

We are looking forward to a great week at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021 and look forward to seeing you at KubeCon and ServiceMeshCon!
